A TEAM wearing black and amber was assured of success in the second junior hurling final.
For both South Kilkenny contestants had different tints of the county colours.
But Slieverue who had a logo with a green background were to lose out to Piltown.
The big difference between the teams was that Piltown was goal hungry while Slieverue failed to rattle the onion bag.
The final scoreline of 4-14 to 0-16 tells its own story and Piltown’s final opponents Dunnamaggin have certainly been forewarned that they will need to have a Fort Knox-like grip on the ‘Town forwards for the big one.
Meanwhile at senior level, Erin’s Own of Castlecomer almost pulled off a shocker when they just failed to pull the plug on their more fancied Kilkenny City rivals, James Stephens.
The game ended 0-14 apiece so it will now take a replay to decide which of them takes the final semi-final spot.
Those who are au fait with the fighting spirit of the ‘Comer boys had warned of a possible surprise.
Next time it will be no surprise if they do spoil Stephens season.
It certainly won’t be for want of trying.
