Locals Ramble to Shield ‘semis’

A STRONG second half performance saw Carlow Kilkenny U15s bag three points and a place in the semi-finals of the SSE Airtricity League Shield.

The locals had to do it the hard way against a stubborn Ramblers in Derdimus.

Cobh pressed early and missed a first half penalty. For all their efforts they couldn’t break the deadlock before the break.

Carlow Kilkenny rode their luck in the first half but made amends with three goals in 11 second half minutes.

Adam McCarron got the ball rolling when he punished Ramblers with a sweet strike.

Ramblers were reeling when Carlow Kilkenny doubled their lead as Zach Bay Hammond scored.

Carlow Kilkenny scored again when Jamie Murphy launched a booming throw into the Cobh box. Ramblers failed to react and Eoghan Byrne finished.

Coupled with a draw between Waterford and Kerry the result means the locals, with four of of five wins in Phase Two of the League, os now sure of a place in the Shield ‘semis’.
