Volunteer models with finesse and brilliance of star hurlers

Pics: Donal Foley

LAST WEEK we were delighted to bring pictures of a brilliant fashion show in Ballyhale to Reporter readers.

It was a smashing occasion at the brilliantly refurbished and decorated Mountain View Golf Club and, aptly as the event was in aid of the Shamrocks GAA Club there was a collection of hurlers on the catwalk.

The names were a who’s who in the hurling stable of excellence that is the Shamrocks who have an amazing collection of club county medals that if melted together would certainly be quite a valuable asset.

But the latter will never happen. Hurling medals are important in that part of South Kilkenny, a reminder to coming generations that they will have to be at their best to follow in the footsteps of those who have sowed the seeds of success and delighted in watching the fruit growing.

Photographer Donal Foley did a great job of putting locals amateur models in the picture, some reward for their dedication to the cause.

But we had a chock-a-block edition last week, as usual bursting with community news and photos so there were some fantastic catwalk kings and queens who didn’t make our pages.

We felt guilty for all who modelled clothes on behalf of local boutiques and stores in Kilkenny City and County and didn’t make the cut.

Today we are happy to feature more models who helped to make the Shamrocks spectacular and after party a super success story.
