LOYAL members of a local family were among the hundreds who turned out to pay tribute to a highly respected fellow parishioner at the weekend.

Geoff Jnr and Val Doyle joined in the celebrations to mark the life and times of Neville Ryan as they showed off the Ransome Threshing Machine belonging to their late father Geoff.

Geoff Snr, with his 1939 threshing outfit and 1949 Field Marshall Tractor did tremendous work for farmers over the years.

The son of Muckalee who was a proud operator of a machine that was to be his bread and butter for much of his life.

Poignantly, it was outside the wall of the local cemetery in Johnswell where their dad is buried that the brothers displayed the wares of his working life.

It was their pride and joy to demonstrate the farm machinery of yesteryear and to pay tribute to a fellow contractor who also won the respect of the farming community.

The Doyle family and practically every other family from Johnswell, Ballyfoyle and Muckalee turned out to support a memorial run in memory of Neville Ryan, a loyal son of a super area.
