THE TIME is opportune for young guns to join one of Kilkenny’s finest community organizations.
The Order of Malta is looking to recruit new members at an information evening on September 3, 7.30pm in James Stephens GAA Club, Larchfield.
It is a particularly exciting time for the Order and indeed for members old and new as it celebrates its 80th birthday next year.
Kilkenny was the second unit in the country to be set up in 1939. behind Galway only that was founded in 1938.
In recognition of this and continuing efforts to get a permanent home for the local ambulance corps, Kilkenny is set to host the organisation’s national conference next year.
Those interested in joining a very busy and extremely active local unit are asked to go see, hear and have a chat with members on what the Order is all about.
The unit is open, honest and believe100% in transparency.
The belief is that this allows people to make an informed decision on whether volunteering is or isn’t for them.
As the most prominent, busiest and one of two only voluntary ambulance services active in Kilkenny at the present time, the Order is under huge pressure as demand for first aid and practitioner-led ambulance
cover at events is at a peak.
With the demand for services all year round the unit would really appreciate new members volunteering with Order of Malta Kilkenny.
