The unique collection of over 50 years of Tom Brett’s photojournalism will be preserved by Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Archives for the benefit of present and future generations of people in Kilkenny City and County.
During his long career Tom photographed all major news, business, social, sports and political events in this area.
He has the rare achievement of being presented with an honorary membership of both the Press Photographers’ Association of Ireland and the Professional Photographers’ Association of Ireland, having been elected to the national council of both bodies.
He was also awarded life membership of the National Union of Journalists in which he served as negotiator for the Irish Executive Council and the Freelance Industrial Council.
