GROWING tech support firm, www.bits.ie has teamed up with one of Ireland’s largest community credit union to become its IT partner.

Bits will provide the infrastructure and managed services it needs to further improve the credit union’s services to its 57,000 plus members spread across 10 branches and three counties.

Kilkenny-headquartered business IT solutions firm Bits.ie says the new deal is one of its biggest contracts and will see it work not only with St Canice’s Credit Union’s main branch on High Street in Kilkenny City. It will also be involved with branch offices in MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre as well as Ballyragget, Callan, Dunnamaggin and Graignamanagh in County Kilkenny, with Ballingarry, Tipperary and Durrow, Mountrath and Rathdowney in Laois.

St Canice’s is long renowned as one of the country’s most progressive credit unions.

It expertly manages its assets of €343 million to help improve the financial wellbeing of its members while at the same time remaining true to its credit union ethos of helping to develop healthy communities that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.

St Canice’s Chief Financial Officer, Eleanor Connolly said the credit union was delighted to have Bits on board to provide us with their expertise to help manage the IT Services for the credit union along with their internal IT team.

“We chose Bits as our provider because of the skillset that they bring to the table and it helps that they are a local company,” Ms Connolly added.

St Canice’s Credit Union members expect the highest and best standards in uninterrupted service and accessibility and their credit union online facility means that members need 24/7 remote and instant access to their accounts.

That all means that an IT partner needs to be at the top of its game and available at all times, according to Gavin Dixon, MD at Bits.ie.

“We have grown our expertise over the past decade or more across the financial sector and work with accountants, mortgage advisers and others in the industry but this is our first IT partnership at this level.

“Being their IT partner essentially means we provide all their infrastructure and IT managed services 24/7 and have full access to their ticketing or problem solving system.

“We’re working on an improved data recovery solution and developing that solution with their in-house team.

“We’ve a fantastic team and the client is very happy. This didn’t  happen overnight, we built a relationship with St Canice’s before tendering for the Managed Services work and are delighted to have brought that link to the next level with this contract.

“The new deal means that Bits.ie has already recruited one extra staff member, bringing our expert team to 13. An engineer has been dedicated to the site and the new venture is going well and we’re looking to continue to expand our client base in the FinTech sector,” Mr Dixon added.

Bits.ie was founded in 2001 and has an unrivalled reputation for hands-on, around-the-clock customer service, not just in Kilkenny, the South East and beyond.

With offices in Kilkenny, Dublin and Carlow, Bits.ie works with local clients such as Carne Group, The Pembroke Hotel and Hibernian Hotel as well as Kilkenny Chamber, the County Kilkenny Leader Partnership, and KCLR.
