Speaking of Dreams is a show based around Michael Murphy’s Book of Dreams, which was published in October 2017 by Gill. It is an interactive evening with audience participation, where psychoanalyst Michael Murphy and presenter Ciana Campbell examine our dreams.
The show begins with an interview about the nature of dreams and dreaming, which explores the latest research. Following this, the author and presenter analyse some contemporary Irish dreams that are experienced by most people, unlock the fascinating insights they offer, and show how the hidden meanings of dreams can guide a person in their daily life. Audience members are invited to add their own comments and insights on the dreams that are discussed.
In the second part of the show, people are asked to contribute dreams for analysis in a question and answer session, if they so wish. This results in an extremely lively discussion.
The evening also includes performances of Michael’s poetry from his two published collections, The Republic of Love and A Chaplet of Roses, as well as featuring some of his new work. The quotation at the front of Michael Murphy’s Book of Dreams reads “For all dreamers everywhere, that the poetry of dreams may enrich the prose of your everyday”. These poems intersperse the analysis of the dreams, provide a supportive change of mood, and offer an alternative commentary on the analysis of dreams.
Speaking of Dreams offers an interesting insight and analysis of our dreams, Friday January 26th. Tickets on sale at Watergate Theatre box office, book online at www.watergatetheatre.com or contact us on 056-7761674.
